Do you want to run faster? If you got some distance running under your belt and can consistently run 6 miles or more then you’re probably ready to add some speed-work to your workout plan and become a faster runner. As mentioned, it is necessary to have some running under your belt already to really see success. With running, distance comes first, then comes speed. When I started running I built up distance milestones first, then I added speed to master the same distance a bit faster and when I was able to run the same distance consistently faster than before that’s when I expanded my running distance again and the whole process repeated itself. I was worried about being able to run outside today – Saturday’s I usually do my long runs and it would suck to postpone that. Yesterday afternoon it started snowing and the forecast for today was a bit fuzzy, too. When I woke up this morning the clouds were gone and blue skies had taken over. Snow was on the ground, but it did not look too bad. Even the temperatures were near 40 degrees around breakfast time and so I made the call to go running outside and even run in shorts. The other choice would have been to go to the indoor running track and run around in circles for 19 miles – not a very motivating thought if you ask me. [Read more…]
I am registered to run one of the formerly ranked Top 10 Scenic Marathons in the US – the Steamboat Marathon in Steamboat Springs, Colorado (Update: Read my Steamboat Marathon Recap here). The event is being hold on June 1st and it will be my 3rd marathon within a 14 day time frame. I live in Colorado and Steamboat Springs is about 3.5 hours of driving away from where I live, so I already booked a hotel for the weekend. Anyway, here is a quick review about the Steamboat Marathon.
