Ok, you found me here on the web. Now what? Well, let me tell you a bit about myself first so that you who I am. Hopefully my story is interesting enough that you bookmark the website and come back frequently. I don’t want to make this typical about me page that you find everywhere. I do not even know why it took me so long to setup a blog on my own domain for so long. Probably because I had so many other websites I was working on that I considered it as not important.
Anyway, I caught the running bug in 2006/2007 and have not looked back since. I have been a casual runner averaging 25-35 miles per week. I did start out on a treadmill to lose some weight and once I started running outside that was it – I was hooked. In 2012 I ran my first half marathon distance, but not in a race and mainly just to see if I would be able to do it. I did it again in summer of 2013 and just 6 or 7 weeks later I signed up for a full marathon. In November 2013 I ran and completed that marathon, but since then I have registered and are training for quite a few more. In April 2016 I ran my first Ultra-Marathon (Greenland 50K) and even through the weather was a disaster I had a blast. Now I am planning to run my first 50 miler later this year (2016).
I am using this blog to write about my running experience and about training for marathons, half marathons, and beyond. I really enjoy the training and going the long distances and I always have my eye out on additional races and challenges.
Besides running and doing fitness in general I am using the Internet to run a small side business as well as for personal stuff. I work in Information Technology and I really like the computer related work. It pays well and has kept me employed for a long time. It also forces me to learn new things almost every day and I consider that a bonus feature of my work. I like to learn new stuff and to challenge myself.
When not at work I spend a lot of time with my family and of course I do work for myself a bit, too. I started my own Internet based business in 2002 and even though it has its up and downs I really enjoy it. Having your own business empowers you a lot. It is fun because you can decide what you work on and you can even make some extra money from it.
But heck, Now I am in my upper 40s and I almost feel old. Or maybe not. While financially stable and pretty much fit and healthy I think this can’t be it. I think there must be more than going to work every day and coming home just to work a little more. So, running has helped me to stay sane and healthy. I want to use this blog to write down for myself what I am doing, how I am doing it, and maybe how I further will transform my life. My life has yet to be really boring and my story is definitely not standard – so, let’s see which direction I can push life now. 😉
Keep on running 🙂
