I am currently out on vacation. As always, there are lots of plans for things to do, but then things almost never work out as planned. I had planned to run 60 miles while on vacation and the current count for miles sits at 48 miles. While 48 miles is not bad, it is not where I wanted it to be – especially as technically these miles are not in the same week. However, my overall goal was to preserve my fitness level so that I can pick up things as soon as I get home on Sunday and I think I have been able to achieve that goal.
I have been able to run right at the Pacific coast and that has been mentally rewarding for sure. Seeing Pelicans dive into the water to fish or hearing the Seals “bark” while running is simply awesome. Seeing the beach or running right at the beach has been awesome, too. We’re staying at a condo in Dana Point in Southern California. We have ocean views from the condo and can even see Catalina Island at the horizon.
As mentioned, I have been able to get some running in, but being on vacation means the schedule to do things has to be a bit flexible and so my running has not been executed as much as I wanted to. I also have been lazy in regards to working on my websites or to continue writing on my book(s). I have an excuse though and that is called “Vacation”. I am recharging the battery so to speak. My 8 year old son is not even willing to go to Disney World, sea World, or the Universal Studios. All he wants to do is go down to the beach and then to the pool where they have a hot tub. And all this is just fine with my wife and me. It is relaxing and it keeps the expenses under control.
Short posting today, so here are a few vacation pictures.
