Last Saturday I went down to Greenland to get some running taken care of. Mind you, Greenland is in Colorado even though it would probably extremely cool to go to the real Greenland and get some running in over there. Greenland Open Space is in Douglas County – south of Castle Rock and just north of Monument Hill right at Interstate 25. I signed up for the 50K race at the of April and I figured it would be wise to check it all out before the race. And I am glad I did. The course is not super difficult, but it is definitely helpful to know how the 2,000 ft. of elevation pan out. In addition, while I have run on trails during my training doing a long run on just trail and not on mixed surfaces was really helpful. The soreness I am experiencing at the moment is proof of that. Is the Mizuno Wave Rider really the right Running Shoe for me? I am not that sure anymore and I am ready to break up with this running shoe even though I just had it for 5 weeks.
A few weeks ago I bought my very first pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 17 running shoes. I had read many positive reviews about the shoe and it seemed to be a great move up from the more basic Nike Pegasus running shoe that I have been using for many years in different versions. I was very excited about the Mizuno Wave Rider and could barely wait to try them out on a first run. Now I have fear that my love affair with the shoe is short-lived. [Read more…]
While I do have many running shoes, most of them are actually “retired” because they did their job protecting my feet on one of the many runs I do and they simply reached their expected end of life. I have been a big fan of the Nike Pegasus running shoe for many years, but with the 29th incarnation of the Nike Pegasus I was not too happy. It seemed like I just did not get the same mileage from the shoe anymore compared to the older models that I had before. I do not remember, but I think my love affair with the Nike Pegasus running shoe start with model #23. The Nike Pegasus 29 did not make me too happy even though I had a total of 4 or 5 pairs, but as I increased my running last year it became apparent that we have to part ways now. [Read more…]
