Today is day #3 of a slow moving bad weather front that is just dumping water down on us. It started Tuesday afternoon with some really heavy rains. Some water actually got into my house – one of the windows was not properly sealed from the outside. I was able to apply silicone sealing during an hour of no rain and that helped a little bit. However, when that same side of the house got hit again by another heavy downpour a little more water came in. Fortunately not as much as before.
I tried the same thing again today, but the break between rain showers was too short and most of the new window seal is washed away. Not much that can be done at the moment. I got a fan running to help dry the carpet, but that is really all. The carpet is old anyway and needs to be replaced, so I do not care too much about the carpet getting a bit more dirty in that area.
My own trouble is nothing compared to what is happening in other areas of the Denver Metro Area. 3 people have died so far. Bridges and roads have been washed away and there are lots of flooding’s all over the place. Houses have collapsed, too. It is very ugly. The news said that we got as much rain as we would usually get during a 6 month period. Also, if this storm would have arrived during Winter the accumulation from the water would be at around 120 (!) Inches. That is just crazy. The rain is supposed to continue at least until tomorrow. But like I said, the trouble at my house is definitely nothing compared to what other people have to go through.
Up until now we have been in drought conditions and while the water is certainly welcome it should not be all delivered in such a short time span.
Traffic was really bad today and I left work at about 2.45 PM to avoid the major rush hour. I looked at my phone later this afternoon to check the traffic situation and I am glad I left the office when I did. The entire traffic map was covered with red – traffic jams everywhere. I got the day off from work tomorrow and I am really glad about that. As I wanted to fix my window today, I skipped the afternoon workout which sucks. I was supposed to go for an 8 miler. I might skip Kosama (Boot camp style workout) tomorrow morning and instead jump on the treadmill for the same time. If I put in an easy run early tomorrow I should be just fine going for my planned long run on Saturday. Running outside should be a go for Saturday if you can believe the weather forecast.
