I’ll be driving down Interstate 70 into Utah today and from there head south straight into Las Vegas, Nevada. Last night I picked up the rental car and then bought a few items at the grocery store. This morning I stopped at Einstein’s Bagels and got some bagels (Honeywheat) with cream cheese for the trip. I also stocked up on Bananas and Powerade for the trip. I got my car charger for my phone and from here on it is just driving. I am excited and anxious. Tomorrow I will be visiting the Health and Fitness Expo to pick up my race bib and the bag for gear check. A more detailed posting will then follow accordingly. Over and Out for today.
I will be heading out to Las Vegas tomorrow morning. I was at the ENT doctor (Ear Nose Throat) this morning and from the medical side of things I am good to go. I still have a lot fluids in my ear, but it will take weeks before it will be completely gone. The same applies to my hearing problem on the left ear – it will take several weeks before the hearing comes back. It requires patience now on that side. With that being said, the doc and I talked about the marathon and he said as long as I can handle it from a comfort level I should do it. He preferred me not to fly and so I will drive out to Las Vegas. It is about a 10 hour drive from where I live and I will just take it easy. [Read more…]
Running with less weight around your hips and other body parts makes you faster and more efficient. Lose about 10 lbs. of weight and your performance could increase up to 5%. So, finding your racing weight for a marathon and reaching it can be quite important if you are chasing a PR or a BQ. I reached my racing weight this week – having lost about 4 lbs. of actual body weight in the last 7 days.
